We are a group of community artists who are working towards producing a piece of performance art.
This project is based on the life and art of Leonora Carrington. The aim is to highlight the positive and creative side to madness/mental illness.
The performance will be a combination of contemporary performance and the mystical, wonderful world of Leonora’s art.
Her art work has been animated to bring her characters to life and allow them to interact. As a surrealist artist, Leonora blurred the boundaries between real and imagined. We ask you to suspend disbelief and allow yourself to be immersed in her ‘reality’ as we interpret the feelings and themes behind her paintings
We have a range of activities from arts and craft, performance, back stage props, costume design and making, mask making. We need your help in bring our ideas to life and staging a performance in the Pavillion at Avenham Park in April.
Most activities and rehersals will take place on Friday afternoon and occasional evenings.
Attending the planning sessions and contributing to all areas of performance production. This includes participating in the performance, as well as making costumes and props.
