Share your views and opinions to influence the volunteer programme

Be a champion for other volunteers!

Your role will be to listen to Harris volunteers and to feedback to the Harris on any challenges or suggestions for change. You will act as an advocate for the wider volunteer team and get their views shared with the appropriate channels to create positive change. You will also volunteer alongside staff to help produce and approve policies, proceedures and strategies - along with any other information that is needed to ensure equality in opportunities and a well considered service for the benefit of other volunteers.

What's involved?

  • Attending a regular meeting which will be seperate from the wider volunteer meetings - we can decide as a team how often to meet and for how long

  • Some of your own time might be needed outside of meetings

  • Working as a small team (8 to 10 volunteers)

  • Working as a larger team when we meet up with Harris staff

  • Generating ideas and sharing them

  • Thinking about the needs of others and the bigger picture

  • Reporting back to the wider volunteer team possibly in volunteer meetings or by email

  • Possibly researching what other museums and cultural venues are doing in terms of good practice

  • Hold the Harris to account

Why get involved?

Put your experience to good use

Help others by speaking out on their behalf with their permission

Affect change in systems, documents, proceedures, policies, attititudes

You will feel more involved in the way the Harris is run

You will enjoy it and feel a new surge of motivation!

How to get involved?

Simply log on to your account and accept the opportunity.

There will only be 10 places so think about our need to reflect diversity and all the different voices in the volunteer team.

First meeting will be in March so look out for a hello email from Kyra, Hannah and Izaak (the new Communities team!)
