Wednesday 16th April 1pm-3pm
Children's activities at Ribbleton Library, Ribbleton Hall Drive, Preston PR2 6EE.
The Harris and UCLan are looking for 2 Harris Volunteers to assist with running some family-friendly activities during Easter break at Ribbleton Library. You'll be working alongside a mixture of Harris and UCLan staff to help support and deliver some creative activities over a 2 hour drop-in session.
The themed activities include:
-
Playtime in the past: children can dress up like a Victorian using flat caps and pinafores
-
Printing and painting: children will get inspired by paintings from the Harris and make their own works of art by printing with apples (think potato printing but with apples)
-
Feel closer to nature: children will be creating their own art using leaf rubbings and having a go at writing their own piece of poetry inspired by nature and trees
These activities are aimed at 3-9 year olds.
These kinds of sessions have been run throughout this academic year during half terms and holidays at the following venues: Ribbleton Library, The Hub at St Bernards and Ingol Library.
What's involved?
Volunteer roles are flexible but you should be confident to do a couple of the following:
-
Welcoming children and families and introducing them to the different activities available.
-
Support the activities - where appropriate, help children to produce their apple prints and poems. Guide them and help out if they're struggling.
-
Be friendly, helpful and engaging!
-
Read aloud to small groups of children.
-
Direct families to our evaluation sheets.
Before the 16th, we'll be running a meeting where we can go through the activity guides so you can feel nicely prepared. Date not confirmed yet.
Why get involved?
-
Engage with your local community or a new community!
-
Embrace your inner child and have fun with activities.
-
Get stuck in and be hands on!
-
Spread the word about the Harris - who are we and what do we do?
