Gujarati translator needed

What's involved?

We need a volunteer who feels confident to....

  • Write and type in Gujarati.
  • Read Gujarati.
  • Authentically translate written or spoken Gujarati into English so that the person's voice doesn't get lost.
  • Translate English into written Gujarati.

Your time will be required particularly between now and 18th November (when the exhibition opens). Smaller bits of your time may be required post-opening depending on any outstanding tasks or public feedback.

You can decide whether you'd like to do the translations at home with your own laptop or at the Harris using one of the library computers. You'll need to log your own hours, we can show you how.

Why get involved?

  • Use your unique specialist knowledge to help the Harris!
  • Help others feel understood by the public - you will be giving a voice to someone.
  • Be involved in a Harris exhibition focusing on South Asian culture and heritage
  • You'll be able to say "I helped with that!" and show off to your friends and family.
