Regular Help

Thank you for your interest in the challenge. We've already filled all our volunteer spaces for this challenge but please take a look at our other challenges.

Help the Harris to select Preston based contemporary artists for a new exhibition at the Harris.

We would like 3 volunteers to help with the project.

In the first instance this will include being part of a panel that will read proposals submitted by artists and play a key role in deciding who the successful artists will be.

Activities will take place at different times, to be agreed by the artist, volunteers and Harris team. Volunteers may which to focus on a particular activity within the project or be involved in a wide variety of activities.

Meetings will take place at the Harris’ temporary collections store, or the Town Hall and then in the Harris.

The Harris is thrilled to be working on a new exhibition for when we reopen in 2025. The exhibition will include artworks from 6 Preston based artists based at the Birley Studios (see photo below). These artists will each select works from regional artists in the Harris collection to include in the exhibition.

The idea is to represent regional artists from the Harris collection alongside works from regional contemporary artists working today.

Once we have selected the artists, opportunities will include:

·         Researching selected works and objects from the collection.

·         Supporting the artists during a research visit.

·         Helping with the interpretation and display of the new artworks.

·         Helping with the promotion of the new exhibition, and related events.

·         Helping at public events related to the new exhibition.

Nicola is leading on this project with Lindsey and Scott.

No formal training is required but Nicola will support any training needed.
