Things to do to feel good

Museum of Sanctuary - help the Harris to be a place of sanctuary for Asylum seekers and refugees

The Harris would like to be even more welcoming for people that are new to Preston, specifically Asylum Seekers and Refugees.

We will go under the wing of Preston's City of Sanctuary team and be guided by them as we work as a project team to collect evidence to show we are adapting our service to be even more inclusive. This evidence will be collected by our team and by used in our application to be accepted as a Museum of Santuary.

At the moment we have a small project team consisting of 5 staff and would love to extend that to you. We were thinking maybe 3 volunteers to add to this team would be great.

So far we have only had 2 meetings and have been just trying to get our heads around what the application process is and throwing some ideas around. We have committed to monthly meetings and some leg work inbetween - the amount of leg work in between that we do depends on each team members capacity but it is definitely working out to be a couple of hours each week. We could set a weekly day and time so that we can all connect and work together if we need to/want to.

The monthly meeting dates up to September are as follows: (Always Tuesdays, always 3pm)

July 14th

August 25th

September 15th

To be part of this team you will need the obvious: compassion, empathy,

patience and non judgemental love for human beings.
